We are a program inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach and practice Circle of Security® as a relationship based early intervention. We are fortunate to have large outdoor green space with a forest that we use regularly. We follow the MCCA salary scale. Position Description:

The Supervisor, River Road Child Care is responsible for the overall care and well-being of the children in accordance to the Manitoba Child Day Care Standards Act.

The Supervisor, River Road Child Care supervises and provides leadership to the Early Childhood Educators and the Child Care Assistants by developing and monitoring a system of procedures designed to ensure all job functions are performed. The position involves direct interactions with the children and acts a resource for the team as they support the children in following through with their program planning.

The Supervisor, River Road Child Care will be immediately responsible to the Coordinator and will be responsible for the Centre in the absence of the Coordinator.

Program/Service Support

Consistent with the Mission, Philosophy, Policies and procedures of St.Amant, the Supervisor is responsible for assisting with the provision of River Road Child Care. Priority is given to developing, implementing and providing to support the team to create inclusive programming for all children’s development needs and ensures their overall well-being. Quality services are evident when professional communication, timeliness, accuracy, ethical awareness / sensitivity, confidentiality are consistently demonstrated as required by legislation and program/service standards.

-Facilitates the regular provision of children’s daily programming experiences
-Facilitates regular reviews of the daily programs that will stimulate the development of the children’s cognitive, physical, social and emotional growth
-Leads the process of effective individualized programming in consultation with the appropriate outside agencies or professionals with the knowledge and support of the coordinator, ensuring that standards related to individual reviews, objectives, data and individual/group schedules are met
-Takes a major role in programming in regards to observing. Documenting planning, developing, and monitoring (fieldtrips, organizing supporting, evaluating, motivating)
-Ensures programming is anti-bias curriculum, inclusive of children with additional support needs, medical supports and allergies as well as being congruent with established policies and procedures
-Ensures daily programs stimulate the development of the children’s cognitive, physical, social and emotional growth.
-Ensures the health and safety are considered at all times – cleanliness of rooms and hallways. Guides the team in developing plans for indoor and outdoor space usage
-Assists teams by directly supporting during times of crisis or understaffing
-Adheres to and promotes compliance with the policies of the Centre and the requirements of the Manitoba Child Day Care Standards Act and licensing requirements
-Facilitates appropriate behaviour management and guidance techniques according to River Road Child Care policies. Examples include:
o positive reinforcement / redirection
o positive language
o Circle of Security
-Actively pursues knowledge and development in early education and “Best Practices” through attending assigned workshops and seminars
Eligible Candidates Qualifications:


-Diploma in Early Childhood Education
-Meet the requirements under the Manitoba Early Learning and Child Care Program as E.C.E. II or III
-Current Emergency First Aid Certificate and CPR certificate as prescribed by the Manitoba Child Day Care Standards Act
-Current Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check


-Ability to work with minimal supervision as well as a collaborative team player in a team environment
-Ability to organize and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment

Job Description Wolseley Family Place Playroom is seeking an experienced ECEII for a supervisory position within our licensed multi-aged nursery school. The Playroom offers occasional care for 18 children from infant to school-age on a drop-in basis. The successful candidate must be a positive and caring individual with strong leadership, problem-solving and mentoring skills. We are looking for an individual who works well in a team setting and can help promote and foster the goals and philosophy of our child-centered, play and attachment based centre. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to use their skills in program development and implementation, staff mentorship, administrative tasks and human resource management.

The Playroom is part of Wolseley Family Place, a non-profit family resource centre in the West Broadway area. We provide a stimulating and fun environment to encourage/enhance development in children while their parents are participating in other programming. We work with caregivers to empower them in their parenting and facilitate attachment.

Start date: September 7, 2021
Salary: $18.50-$20/hour, dependent on qualifications
Hours: 22.5 hours a week to start, permanent FT after successful completion of 3-month probation (operating hours between Monday- Friday 8:30-4:30)

Eligible Candidates The ideal candidate will have:

• ECEII classification issued by Manitoba Early Learning and Child Care
• Current First Aid and CPR (level "C") certificate
• Minimum of three years of experience working in a licensed childcare facility
• Supervisory skills and experience and be able to support a team of 3-4 staff
• Experience working with infant and preschool aged children
• Strong knowledge of emergent curriculum and child development; able to educate staff about fundamental practices
• Experience in developing and implementing early childhood curriculum and day-to-day activity plans
• Knowledge of Best Practices and Licensing Regulations
• Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to engage and respond to family/children's needs and/or concerns; ability to provide written reports and documentation
• Professional leadership style: lead by example, ability to coach, to make and follow through on decisions, give direction, resolve conflict, give and receive feedback
• Collaborative approach – comfortable working as part of an interdisciplinary team
• Cultural competence – experience working respectfully with diverse populations
• A strengths-based, non-judgmental approach to supporting families
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook. Working knowledge of technology tools and web based programs
